Artist Biography

Symbiosis was formed in 2003 by Canadian musician Steve Lazin. The group consists of musicians Steve Lazin (percussion), Shawn Soucy (percussion), Shine Edgar (vocal, Didgeridoo), Craig McGregor (guitars), Pierre Imbert (Veilles a Roue/Hurdy Gurdy), Celso Machado (Ney Flute, Didgeridoo), Andre Thibault (Mizmar, Bamboo Flute), Charlie Hase (Slide Bass), Chris Blade (Electric Bass), and Brian McGibney (Synthesizer).

Steve Lazin became active in the Canadian music scene (primarily in Toronto and Vancouver) from 1975 to 1994 where he played percussion in a variety of musical styles. In 1994, he began studying Middle Eastern, African, and other world rhythms. He also toured the Canadian Folk Festival circuit.

Lazin has performed his variety of World music with Andre Thibeault, Cordes en Folie, and Celso Machado, among others. He has also lent his rhythmic sounds to the group Bob's Your Uncle and to Stephen Fearing.
