Martin & Scott make their home in Heber Springs, Arkansas
where
they own and operate "Nightengale Didjeridoos,
Flutes and Music".
Together they compose, produce and record
original music, and
handcraft traditional musical instruments.
Deborah Martin began singing at the age of
six for the church
congregations in the small mid-western town
where she was raised.
Professionally, she started her long and adventurous
career as a
singer/songwriter in the folk clubs of the
early seventies. The author
of over 100 original songs, with two solo
recordings to her credit,
Deborah is currently in pre-production with
her third solo release.
She plays the guitar, autoharp, dulcimer and
flute and currently
performs with her music partner Preston Scott.
Together they have
released seven recordings and in 1997, Deborah
published her first
book of original poetry.
Preston Scott was born and raised in San Diego,
California. At
twelve he began playing drums in rock n' roll
bands. Then his desire
to be in the forefront of music and technology
led him to UC/Davis
where he gained a passion for electronic keyboards
and a special
love for the piano. Preston graduated with
a Masters Degree in
Electronic Music Composition and immediately
began teaching at
the University of California in Sacramento.
Professionally, he built
his own recording studio and continued to
compose, perform and
conduct. In 1988 he met Deborah Martin and
they joined to
become the duo "Martin & Scott".
Their unique musical style performed on their own handcrafted instruments creates a rich sound full of emotion and expression.
