I am an experienced music teacher with 12 years of teaching experience and 18 years of performing experience including studio work, stage, film, and television.

My students experience a unique curriculum that seamlessly weaves the most influential styles including Rock, Blues, Jazz, R&B, Country, Classical, Pop, Folk, New Age, and Musical Theatre into an unbeatable combination. My students are not limited by stylistic boundaries. They are able to perform to the extent that their natural ability and personality allow.

Choose one of the following:
Piano instruction includes playing solo instrumental music as well as playing an accompaniment and singing. You will learn how to read music notation as well as chord notation. You will also learn how to play melodies by ear and how to put together an appropriate accompaniment. Learn how to improvise a solo in a variety of styles of music. Important piano repertoire will be covered in the lessons so that you will know who the influential players are and have a feel for their style.

Guitar instruction includes playing solo instrumental music as well as playing an accompaniment and singing. Flat picking, thumb picking, and finger style are all covered in the lessons. You will learn to improvise a solo in any style you choose and be authentic within that style. I will teach you how to read song sheets, TAB, and music notation. My students learn to play melodies and chords by ear. Important guitar repertoire will be covered in the lessons so that you will know who the influential players are and have a feel for their style.

Singing instruction includes breathing, phonation, resonance, diction, and musical expressiveness. I will teach you all the techniques that make for an exciting, yet healthy singing voice. My students learn the important skills of sight singing, harmonizing, microphone technique, and they have the option of accompanying themselves with an instrument while singing. Choice of repertoire will largely depend on the student’s voice.

My students are assured of a well rounded program which instills the love of music while teaching them important personal, social, and intellectual skills.
Creativity is encouraged from day one. Many of my students, even the 6 year olds, enjoy composing their own music around themes suitable to them. Performance is another key element which I nurture and encourage. My students are frequently asked to play at Christmas, birthdays, and other social functions.

As they continue in their lessons, my students are gradually exposed to a range of keyboard styles including Pop, Folk, Jazz, Classical, Country, R&B, Rock, and New Age. No aspect of music making is ignored. In addition to the traditional technical and music reading skills, my students also learn how to play from chord charts, fake books, and by ear. I strongly believe in building a broad and solid foundation early. In this way, there are no artificial limits to a student’s growth.
